About the Yoga:
Bikram Yoga is a very intelligently designed series of twenty-six postures that works out the entire body for a period of ninety minutes from the inside out, from the macro to the micro level, using every system of the body. It stretches and strengthens every single muscle, ligament and joint in the body. The sequence is designed so that every posture warms up the muscles and joints needed for the next posture, in addition to working the organs, glands, and nervous system in a systematic and profound way. The Bikram series has the deepest impact on the body's insides and functioning. It is a challenging, exciting and vigorous series, and it gets the best results of any kind of yoga practiced today. The series has proved itself for thirty years.
The postures in the series work synergistically and cumulatively to put the body back on track and in balance. The yoga builds energy, stamina, and finesse. It works by using strength work, gravity, balancing, and most importantly, the tourniquet effect. By gently stretching, squeezing and massaging the internal organs, flushing out the cardiovascular system, and stimulating the endocrine and nervous system, any deficient hormones and enzymes get released of inhibited as necessary. The body is self-regulating and self adjusting. It knows what and how much it needs, it just needs to be boosted when it is out of balance. Cholesterol in the blood gets regulated, and also gets blasted out of the arteries and veins; oxygen and nutrients are supplied to parts of the body that had been in "cold storage;" toxins are eliminated; the central nervous system is both energized and soothed.
