Beach Biofuel CooperativeBeach Biofuel CooperativeMaking biodiesel is new to St. Augustine, but others around the world have been making and using biodiesel in their vehicles for many years. The Beach Biofuel Cooperative offers you the opportunity to see how it is done, participate in the process, and use the fuel yourself. Find out how by sending an inquiry to beachbiofuel@msn.com . The Beach Biofuel Cooperative was formed in 2006 as an organization for anyone interested in the production and use of biodiesel made from waste restaurant fryer oil. Preliminary process chemistry and trial production of biodiesel was completed, and equipment has been scaled up to the familiar “Appleseed” reactor size. Two large reactors are now operable, with washing, drying, filtration and storage components in place. The production of quality fuel has become standardized and manageable, but the organization of the Cooperative is a new and challenging project! All interested people are welcome to participate. Help is always needed: making fuel and tinkering with equipment and vehicles promoting biodiesel, and the Coop designing graphical materials, web information, etc organizing activities If the interest level is sufficient, the Beach Biofuel Cooperative is in a great position to grow into a premier local grassroots environmental organization. We can change the way we dispose of food waste, and the way our vehicles affect air pollution in our town, one tankful at a time. |
